![]() What is your name: My Name is Tessa Bobir Describe your business: My Business is Precious Placentas; I encapsulate the placentas of new mothers for them to consume following the days after giving birth. How long have you been working on this business: I started encapsulating placentas in 2014, and decided to really put effort into and continue to grow my business in 2016. Where are you from: I was born and bred in Brisbane.I was born at the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital,My mother was born there also, And my grandmother was born in Cherbourg. How long have you been in Brisbane: What brought you to Brisbane: Do you have children? How many and what age: Yes! I have 2 babies, Riley is 7 and Lucinda is 2. (the age gap is rough haha) What made you decide to start your own business: I like a challenge, and I love learning! But most of all: the freedom that comes with it, being my own boss and being able to work from home while raising my children is the best. It allows me to take my time as both a mother and a working woman, it is a constant juggling act but this way I don’t have to worry about letting either my children down, or an employer if things come up. I can also juggle finding me time (when I overcome the guilt! haha) a little bit easier, without having another thing to work around eg, set work hours. What has been the biggest hurdle: In the early days learning to really trust the process and believe in myself! Also believing that my dream/vision/goals were worth investing in. How did you get over it: It’s a work in progress!, but essentially changing my mindset! I’m not just investing in “business” I’m investing in myself, because I am learning more and striving towards things that not only will bring in an income for my family but that I am also passionate about and feel fulfilled by. The more I believe in myself and allow myself to invest in myself and there for my business by furthering my education/changing things etc the more abundance! And greatness flows.. Allowing time for rest and reflection, keeping at myself to think positively and changing the doubtful thoughts that creep in or the negative self talk are all now “MUST do’s”. Looking up to other women in business also helps to keep me going when things seem tough or stagnant. (Plus I do a yearly dreamboard! And check in with it regularly) What did it teach you: I guess reflections taught me I was self sabotaging by thinking negatively, I really believe in manifestation; if you focus on the negatives nothing changes BUT if you can think “ok, that was kinda crappy but there’s a lesson to be learnt, now what can we move forward with?” This really changes everything! New doors open, you ‘ve learnt a valuable lesson which can actually really propel you forward, and I’m always thankful that I learnt the lesson when I did. What has been the most rewarding thing happen to you in business: I love love love client feedback! I love preparing beautiful packages for my clients and I love it when they love it! Haha! What else do you love besides your family and business: Nature <3 books, tea, laughing, And writing, - I’m always writing, and this is another dream/goal/work in progress of mine. What would you like more of: Me time haha, I recently went for my first vacay since having my daughter in march 16’ - I neeeeded silence, to remember who I was and to reset and refocus, so I booked a 2 night getaway to a backpackers in Noosa- even though I think I actually slept less than if I were at home, it was just what I needed; zeo responsibilities. What is your biggest and best advice to other people in a similar situation: Believe in yourself!! No effort is wasted, even if things don’t work out, you are always learning, and don’t be afraid to talk to others or reach out to network, there are so many other beautiful women out there trying to get businesses off the ground or who have and are juggling motherhood as well, it’s so refreshing when you can talk to someone about business and goals and still keep it real about the nitty gritty struggles of motherhood too! What is your favourite thing to do in brisbane: Our family are barefooters and we all love getting into nature, I would day our favourite thing to do would be... visit the local creeks, Samford, Dayboro, Mt Glorious and Mt Mee <3 Our most frequently visited creek is in Dayboro.
