Placenta Capsules: Preparation includes a tried and tested method of cleaning, steaming, slicing, dehydrating, grounding, the placenta powder is then placed tenderly into capsules.
(Unless otherwise requested all placentas are processed in the Traditional Method).
Tincture: A placenta tincture is when a small piece of the placenta or umbilical cord is placed into a 100 mL bottle of 80 proof alcohol (usually vodka) and left to steep for 6 weeks before being consumed. Tinctures will last indefinitely if you continue to top the bottle up with more alcohol, and leave the piece of placenta inside. The piece of placenta must be covered by alcohol at all times to avoid it becoming rancid, alternatively you can strain the placenta out. Tinctures can be used similarly to a rescue remedy, and used throughout all of life's transitions including menopause.
Traditional (TM): The traditional method is adapted from TCM and is when the placenta is cleaned, STEAMED then sliced, dehydrated and ground before being placed into capsules.
This process is used when clients prefer to consume cooked meat which comes from the belief that cooked food is easier to digest and acquire the nutrients from as opposed to raw food, this process is also preferred as the steaming can act as a way to destroy potential harmful surface bacteria that may be present.
Raw: Raw is when the Placenta is dehydrated without first being steamed. This method is for those who prefer a raw diet or those who believe steaming may cause some nutrients to be lost.
Traditional Chinese (TCM): The traditional Chinese method or TCM is when the placenta is cleaned, then steamed with a lemon, ginger and pepper, before being sliced and dehydrated.
TCM is based on the theory that giving birth leaves a "cold" open space in the abdomen and womb, it is believed that steaming the placenta and then consuming it helps replace the heat and aids healing.*Please note, I am not trained in traditional Chinese Medicine, therefore I cannot advocate for this option, I simply offer it for those who do there own research ( I recommend talking to a trained Chinese Medicine practitioner before deciding which method suits you)
Placenta Art and Keepsakes:
Umbilical Cord Keepsake: Depending on the size of the umbilical cord, it can be made into the shape of a love heart or spiral and sometimes even the word “love”, before it is dehydrated, creating a lifelong keepsake.
Placenta Print: For your placenta print I place the placenta onto a sheet of high quality water color paper, upon removing the placenta from the paper a beautiful and unique “tree of life” placenta print is left, once dried you have a lifelong keep sake. (These are beautiful additions to milestone books or framed on the wall). There is now the option of colored prints!
